As a third-generation, family owned and operated collection of auto dealerships, the David R. McGeorge Car Company has been a growing part of the Richmond community for more than 60 years. This city has truly shaped who we are and what our business is today. So what better way to give back to thousands of Virginians across the region, than to partner with local philanthropic organizations to help improve and support our community?

Through the McGeorge Cares program, we hope to raise awareness for our valued community partners. Each month, we’ll feature a local community-focused organization and help get Central Virginia residents involved. As always, McGeorge remains committed to helping make Richmond a better place to live, grow and thrive.

Chelsea is a fifteen year old girl from Richmond, Virginia who is very unique, but such a strong and brave young lady, to say the least.

This is a story about two rare conditions occuring simultaneously. She has a rare connective tissue disease that’s genetic called AEhlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Type III. It causes a defect in the way the body makes collagen and affects the joints, skin, internal organs, and can affect the vascular system too.

This underlying condition complicates the treatment of a rare diagnosis called ASuperior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS), also known as Wilkie’s Syndrome. It is defined by an acute-angled exit of this artery from the aorta, with the consequence of the squeezing of the duodenum. This leads to artificial feeding, which is currently being done by way of a tube that goes through the nose and continues through the stomach and past the compression of the duodenum. This is what is keeping her from starving to death. The goal is to improve her condition, which is accompanied by weight loss and abdominal discomfort, so she can again participate in a normal life. To do this surgical intervention is needed.

This diagnosis is very rare and her case is unique. There is no documentation in medical history of a patient with Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome with Ehler’s -Danlos as well.

Please help McGeorge by raising money for her medical bills & learning more about her condition.

Feed More RichmondLast fall, McGeorge Toyota gave you yet another reason to feel good about buying a new Toyota with them. For every car sold through November 19, McGeorge Toyota donated 250 meals to the Central Virginia Food Bank, their goal was to provide over thirty thousand meals/pounds of food to the Central Virginia Food Bank. And they met and exceeded that goal. Way to go Central Virginia.
